What Season

Peas grow best in cool temperatures.
Making spring and autumn the ideal planting seasons. They struggle in hot summer weather, so starting them early ensures a bountiful harvest.

The optimal temperature range is 10-18°C, with night temperatures staying cool.

Peas are also frost-hardy, making them a great early-season crop.

Sow pea seeds directly in the ground as they dislike being transplanted.

  • Sow seeds directly in the ground, as they dislike transplanting.

  • Plant 2-5 cm deep and space seeds 5 cm apart.
  • Keep rows 30 cm apart for good airflow.
  • Provide trellises or stakes for climbing varieties.
  • Peas take about 60-70 days to mature. Harvest them when the pods are plump but before the peas inside harden.
  • Frequent picking encourages more production, so check plants regularly.

GROWING YOUR FIRST PEA PODS
